See Saw
See Saw is a new theatre company comprising of Brisbane-based performers Phoebe Manning and Sarah Whitehead who have been working with and delighting audiences for over ten years. Their expertise lies in contemporary clown, using physical comedy and puppetry to create whimsical, site specific performances.
Phoebe Manning
Phoebe Manning is a professional clown and circus performer. She has performed in festivals and cabarets throughout Australia. Her recent performances were The Outhouse, Melt Festival at the Powerhouse and Weather Kitchen a children’s theatre production in Austria. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama (QUT) and graduated with a Graduate Diploma of Teaching. She has worked as a performer with Arts Health Institute and with companies such as Debase and Vulcana Women’s Circus. She is currently working as a circus trainer for Vulcana Women’s Circus and has also run circus training programs throughout regional and remote areas in Australia.
Sarah Whitehead
Sarah Whitehead is a trained clown and theatre maker. She studied clown and bouffon with clown masters Philippe Gaulier (Paris) and Giovanni Fussetti (Melbourne). She has also trained regularly in Action Theater with Danielle Cresp. She has also completed a Bachelor of Theatre Arts (Acting) at USQ, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Education at Monash University. Her show credits include: The Show Must Go On (funded by Arts Qld), Free Range (Melbourne Fringe Festival), SeamTogether by The Seamstresses (creative development funded by RADF), The Outhouse by See Saw Theatre supported by Vulcana Circus (funded by Brisbane City Council’s Creative Sparks Program) which is programmed at the National Circus Festival 2022 and has been a choreographer for Ludo Studio’s Bluey (episodes Dance Mode, Musical Statues and Onesies). Sarah also has worked extensively with young people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds teaching circus skills and facilitating clown and puppetry workshops in Melbourne and Brisbane with the support of Foundation House (Vic) and with young people at Milpera (Qld).
See Saw Theatre have recently received funding from Brisbane City Council’s Creative Sparks program to develop their two woman physical comedy The Outhouse with director Bridget Boyle, dramaturg Andrew Cory and designer Josh McIntosh in 2020 with support from Vulcana Circus.
